When asked for his permission to use his likeness his characteristic good humour shone through when he said that he wholeheartedly gave his permission but he doubted anyone would want to buy him. Our sales figures would disagree with the Archbishop!
The doll is made by a group of women based in Khayelitsha which is on the Cape Flats just outside Cape Town. It is one of the oldest townships in South Africa and has an unemployment rate of over 50%. When you buy this doll not only will it make you smile every time you look at it but also you will be supporting the sustainability of a group of enterprising women and their families.

I also had to wait for my Desmond Tutu lookalike but it was worth the wait!

I just love my Desmond Tutu lookalike. I tried to get one in the Oxford shop but they had sold out so I camped on the website until the next delivery came in - it was worth the wait!
